According to senior officials, the Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC) is actively working to finalize the alignment for the Palam Vihar to Dwarka metro extension project which has been going on alongside the Gurugram metro extension. The much-awaited metro service will connect Gurugram’s Palam Vihar with Dwarka’s Sector 21 and have interchanges at the Palam Vihar station on the Gurugram Metro corridor, IECC station on Airport Express, and Dwarka Sector 21 metro station.

While stakeholders have reached a consensus over the overall alignment of the project, they are still deliberating on where exactly its last metro station should be located – Bijwasan railway station or the interstate bus terminal in Dwarka. Only after this decision is made can ₹1,687 crore project be submitted for Union government approval.

Palam Vihar to Dwarka Metro Update

In October 2022, the Haryana government gave a nod to the metro project funding with ₹1,541 crore out of the total cost involved. A senior official from the state administration pointed out that final touches were being added to the proposal including a crucial question about passenger convenience — whether the last station before Dwarka interchange should be near the railway station or bus terminal.

The official noted that though it might take time for alignment finalization but top level meeting is taking place on this issue. The length between Rezangla Chowk at Palam Vihar and Dwarak Sector 21 will span an eight-kilometer stretch which includes five kilometers within Gurugram district and three point four kilometers in Delhi region while seven elevated stations will come up along this corridor with an important interchange located at Rezangla chowk providing connectivity between the main line from Huda City Centre Cyber City via Old Gurgram & pallan vihar

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation DMRC was approached for comment about these developments but did not respond yet
