
With the approval of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority ((YEIDA)) Master Plan 2041, an Olympic sports park is slated to be built in the region. A state-of-the-art facility such as this is focused on meeting the international standards for sports infrastructure in the region, and with the addition of the Olympic sports park, it aims to be more efficient. Alok Kumar, the Primary Secretary of Industrial Development, has directed the YEIDA officials to focus on purchasing land for the construction of the Olympic park.
Olympic Sports Park Location and Design
Moreover, a new Olympic sports park is proposed to be built in between Sector 22F and Sector 23B of the Yamuna wasuth. The construction of this new institute will allow for the development of a centralized sports region with the ability to host players for different tournaments. In addition, the park will have residential accommodations for athletes, making the park able to host international tournaments all in one location. This is similar to other world-renowned Olympic parks because of it’s holistic concept of advanced infrastructure and new modern stadiums coupled with proper housing for visiting athletes.
Olympic Sports Park Master Plan Highlights
The most noteworthy aspect in the eye of many stakeholders of the National Capital Region (NCR) is the primary vision feature of the Master Plan-2041 which was to set up an Olympic City. It is England that in anticipation of cabinet approval, YEIDA intends to use over 52.4 hectares in the construction of the Olympic Sports Park. Further, the Principal Secretary has instructed to take immediate steps for speedy completion of the land acquisition, and provision of requisite facilities. This Olympic Village Park will have 5000 units of different sizes – 1 BHK, 2 BHK, and 3 BHK – in the Olympic Park for players, officials, and dignitaries during major functions.
Infrastructure for 29 Olympic Sports
Lack of appropriate facilities to host Olympic level competitions is one of the critical reasons for setting up an Olympic City in NCR. AYEIDA City is its futuristic infrastructure makes it the ideal location for India’s global sporting events. The Olympic Sports Park will have the approved facilities for all 29 Olympic sports in readiness for international competitions, thus helping address the infrastructure gap.
Land Acquisition from 226 Villages
To fulfill this plan, land is being acquired from two districts comprising of 226 villages, with 131 in Gautam Buddha Nagar, and 95 in Bulandshahr. The Master Plan-2041 covers an area of 796 square kilometers. It originally planned to acquire land from 171 villages, but that has recently changed by pouring new expansions into capturing land to increase the new YEIDA city further.
