
During the last decade, the fast-growing system of expressways in Uttar Pradesh has shrunk the state. The Meerut-Prayagraj Ganga Expressway is now one of these highways added to the network and it is extra special for them. It will be the longest expressway in Uttar Pradesh that can accommodate not just cars but airplanes too. This 594-kilometer-long expressway connecting 12 districts is nearing completion. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s ambitious project is likely to be accomplished by December this year, said a media report. The state government plans to open it for public use before December 31, next year’s Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, they added.

Travel from Meerut to Prayagraj in Just 6 Hours According to a report published by TOI, the 594km long Ganga Expressway will cut short the distance between Western and Eastern Uttar Pradesh significantly. The journey from Meerut to Prayagraj will take only six hours as compared to current twelve hours. On its way, this route will pass through 518 villages across 12 districts namely Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Raebareli, Pratapgarh and Prayagraj.

The Ganga Expressway starts at Bijoli village on the Bulandshahr National Highway in Meerut and ends at Judapur Dadu village on NH-19 in Prayagraj. It is the third-longest expressway (594km) being built so far nationwide; once completed overtakes Purvanchal Expressway as UP’s longest highway. A 3.5km runway capable of landing large aircraft near Jalalabad in Shahjahanpur is being constructed alongside this expressway.

- The Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) is constructing the Ganga Expressway.
- It will cost around ₹36,230 crore to build the 594km long Ganga Expressway.
- About 7,453 hectares of land from 518 villages have been acquired for this project.
- There are 14 major bridges, 32 flyovers and seven railway overbridges on this express highway system.
- A 960m bridge between Hapur and Badaun will cross the Ganga River on it.
- A 720m bridge between Badaun and Hardoi over the Ramganga River is also part of it.
- Nine amenity complexes will be built along with the main toll plazas at Meerut and Prayagraj while there would be fifteen ramp toll plazas for exits in between.
High Court to Be Closer to West Western UP had demanded a bench of Allahabad High Court in Meerut many times due to its considerable distance from Prayagraj that causes delay in legal proceedings. Lawyers from Prayagraj oppose this demand as most of the cases come from western region. No government could solve an issue related with East and West UP because of political reasons but after completion of expressway millions advocate’s life will become easier who lives at west up by reducing the time taken to travel Prayagraj where they can handle their matters easily.
