The Old City Metro is to link directly with the Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS) running from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Alwar. In Gurgaon, connectivity at two locations is being considered. Direct connectivity at Hero Honda Chowk has already been proposed. Now, a plan is being made for connectivity at Shankar Chowk, one of the city\’s most prominent and important intersections. The Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC) has started working on the plan. After the government gives its in-principle approval for the new RRTC route, HMRTC will finalize its plan. The direct connection between the two systems will benefit a large part of the NCR. It will make it easier to reach any part of Gurgaon, as well as Manesar, Rewari-Dharuhera-Bawal, and beyond from Delhi, Noida, and Ghaziabad.
Gurgaon Metro To Connect RRTS
When both systems are connected easily with cities in NCR; it shall be simpler to reach each corner of Gurgaon. Bajghera Road can be reached through metro from Shankar Chowk via Rapid Rail Transit System which also connects Palam Vihar Extension, Palam Vihar, Sector-23A ,Sector-22 ,Udyog Vihar Phase-4 ,Udyog Vihar Phase-5 ,3 ,2 and Dwarka Expressway(Sector 101). From here onwards one can take Rapid Metro to different parts of DLF.From Hero Honda Chowk it would be easy to go towards Sector-45,Cyber Park,Sector 47(Subash Chowk ),Sector-48,Sector-72A(Hero Honda Chowk),Udyog Vihar Phase-6,Sector-10,Sector-37(Basai Village Bus Stand),Basai Village(Sector9),Sector7(Sec4 7 Bus Stand),Sector-4(Sec 4 Sec5 Crossing Bus Stand),Sector-5(Ashok Vihar Water Tank) and Sector-3.
“We are working on a new plan to provide connectivity to as many people as possible. Thousands of passengers will benefit from the RRTS connectivity at Shankar and Hero Honda Chowk. Once the government approves the changes in the RRTS route, we will proceed with our plan.”
— Chandrashekhar Khare, Director, HMRTC
Route Change Preparation
Earlier, it was planned that the RRTS route will go from NH-48 to Shankar Chowk via Kapashera-Dundahera-Udyog Vihar Phase 2 and 5-Rao Gajraj Singh Marg. From Shankar Chowk it was planned to go towards Manesar, Rewari and Bawal via NH-48 and Hero Honda Chowk. Now the route has been changed. Instead of Kapashera-Dundahera, it is now being directly brought to NH-48 but this change also awaits approval of government’s in-principle. Now Old City Metro route is planned from Udyog Vihar Phase 5 to Shankar Chowk via Rao Gajraj Singh Marg.
