The advertisement for the construction of the highway project from Aligarh-Agra was released in February and the four-lane highway construction budget has been released by the central government. Well, matters now are set to move on well, faster than expected. The Aligarh-Agra four-lane highway which is 65-kilometer long has been floated for a tender of worth ₹2,385 crores.
Nevertheless, there are still a few permitted undeveloped southern land divisions within the boundaries available. Unless indicated otherwise, however, officials say that provided all goes well, the span of completion will be less than a period of two years. It is important to add that it is still necessary to remove a few dozen of houses from several villages on the route and this nightmare is promised to be over soon.
This highway is designed to assist in linking Agra Airport with the Defense Corridor at Aligarh and the Government Plans to Construct it at Agra Airforce Base. It will be built by extending it to the national highway bypass which is situated outside Aligarh town. Also in the future, there are intentions to link it with the Yamuna expressway at Khandoli, agra. This will also provide one more route to Jewar Airport as well as ease the pressure of Aligarh Defence Corridor traffic. The construction of this new highway will relieve the traffic bottleneck that this two-lane 85-kilometer intercity highway connecting Agra and Aligarh has been unable to bear since its completion.
Land Acquisition for Aligarh-Agra Highway
The particulars of the land which needs to be acquired for the highway siting plans have been reached. In the Aligarh district, 59.1623 hectares of land in the Kol and Iglas area will be acquired and this notification has already been issued. The Open Moi Road project entails the construction of one railway bridge, three flyovers, and 55 underpasses. The initiation of the road construction process as well as the only thing remaining is the budget allocation for land acquisition. Once land is acquired for the highway, construction will commence at an increased pace. It is believed that the said Aligarh-Agra expressway will be ready for use in a period not exceeding two years.
