From Two Hours to 20 Minutes: Noida-IGI Airport Travel Set for a Dramatic Change

Travel from Noida to Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport is about to become dramatically faster. On August 16, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate two major infrastructure projects — the Urban Extension Road-2 (UER-2) and the Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway.

These high-speed corridors are expected to cut travel time from Noida to IGI Airport from over two hours to just 20 minutes, transforming connectivity across the Delhi-NCR region.

Grand Inauguration Event at Dwarka Expressway

The inauguration ceremony will take place on the Dwarka Expressway near Dwarka, with prominent leaders including Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini in attendance. Lawmakers, city officials, and infrastructure experts from across Delhi-NCR will also be present, underlining the importance of these projects for regional growth.

UER-2: Delhi’s New Outer Ring Road

The Urban Extension Road-2 will act as a new outer ring road for the capital, offering direct airport connectivity while easing congestion on existing arterial routes. It will link Delhi to key NCR cities such as Sonipat, Panipat, Karnal, Ambala, Rohtak, Jind, and Bahadurgarh, creating faster routes for both daily commuters and long-distance travelers.

High-Speed Corridor with Multiple Link Roads

Built at a cost of ₹8,000 crore, the UER-2 Expressway runs from Alipur on the Delhi–Chandigarh Highway, passing through Mundka, Bakkarwala, Najafgarh, and Dwarka before connecting to the Delhi–Jaipur Highway at Mahipalpur.

Dedicated connector roads will also link the corridor to Bahadurgarh, the Delhi–Rohtak Highway, Sonipat Highway, and the Gurugram–Sohna Highway, eventually feeding into the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway.

Faster Travel, Lower Fuel Consumption

According to transport officials, the new route will significantly reduce fuel consumption, cut carbon emissions, and ease traffic congestion on busy roads like NH-48 and Ring Road. The signal-free design ensures uninterrupted travel for passengers heading to IGI Airport, especially from Noida and Ghaziabad.

Final Preparations Before Opening

With finishing work in the final stages, the UER-2 and Dwarka Expressway will be open to the public within days of the launch. For residents and travelers in Delhi-NCR, this marks the start of a new era of fast, reliable, and efficient airport travel.
