Efforts have already started towards setting up a Greenfield City along the Greenfield Expressway connected to Noida Airport. The buildings in the city will include hotels, restaurants, malls-multiplexes, school colleges, high-rise societies, swimming pools, cafes, and markets. Work on the plan is expected to commence as soon as possible. On Tuesday, Principal Secretary of Urban Development DS Dhesi visited Faridabad to review the progress of the ongoing development work. A Detailed Project Report (DPR) will be prepared to outline the project\’s expenditures.
Greenfield Expressway Should Be Completed by August
He directed relevant departmental officials to expedite the development works after meeting with them. He stressed that the Greenfield Expressway should be completed by August. Dhesi arrived in Faridabad around 9 am, where he first met with officials from the Faridabad Metropolitan Development Authority, the Municipal Corporation, HSVP, and Smart City Limited. After this, he inspected the construction of the expressway with these officers.
Earlier, DS Dhesi visited the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway construction site in the Faridabad area, where about 70% of the work was reported complete. According to NHAI authorities, the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway will be ready for vehicular movement within two and a half to three months. Furthermore, orders have been issued to promptly address all problems facing the construction of Jewar’s Greenfield Expressway extending to Noida Airport. NHAI plans commercialization along the Greenfield Expressway, such as opening hotels and malls, according to FMDA.
The Principal Secretary also inspected the progress of the Mirzapur STP and Badkhal Lake projects. Municipal Corporation officials stated, \”Badkhal Lake must be opened to the public by December,\” adding that \”Mirzapur STP should be operational by the end of June.\”
The construction of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway around the bypass road is progressing slowly. Three months ago, during a visit by Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, NHAI claimed that the construction would be completed by April and opened to the public. However, as May is ending, the work remains incomplete. Principal Secretary DS Dhesi expressed his dissatisfaction and reprimanded NHAI officials for the delays. Last year, NHAI completed the stretch from Kherli to Mindkaula. Currently, work is ongoing between Jaitpur and the junction of Sector 62-65 Dividing Road under Package Two.
The Principal Secretary then visited the construction site of the Jewar Greenfield Expressway. He instructed the officials to start constructing an elevated flyover between Sectors 117 and 123 under Master Plan 2031 as soon as possible. This flyover was not included in the original tender, so NHAI officials must expedite approvals for this project.
