The elite Golf Links locality in Delhi has had yet another high-value transaction added to its name. Sanjay Kukreja, a partner in the leading private equity firm, ChrysCapital, and his wife Shaveta Sharma, who leads the Central Square Foundation, have purchased a lavish bungalow for ₹ 155 crores.

CRE Matrix has reviewed property documents showing the couple paying a stamp duty of ₹ 9.3 crores for the transaction. The bungalow is located within the Lutyens’ Bungalow Zone (LBZ) as golf links is known for its rigorous colonial charm and strict redevelopment regulations. The area of the property is about 1,125 square yards and its impressive 11,250 square feet in built up area with 8,000 square feet of plinth.
Unmatched privacy, limited inventory, aged appeal for the ultra wealthy, is why Golf Links is known to attract industrialists and high net worth individuals (HNIs). This unmatched privacy boosts the property value in the area, making them even more appealing for the ultra wealthy.
The Kukreja-Sharma deal is just one amongst several marquee purchases in the vicinity. Recently, Vasudha Rohatgi, wife of former attorney general Mukul Rohatgi, also made news when she purchased a bungalow measuring 2,100-square-yards for a staggering ₹160 crore. In the same way, Maxop Engineering’s Shailesh Arora purchased a 575-square-yard house for ₹68.5 crore, and Pawan Agarwal, deputy MD at DB Group, purchased the same type of property for ₹75 crore.
The demand for luxury real estate of India’s elites is relentless. Even with the shaky economy and skyrocketing costs, a survey conducted by India Sotheby’s International Realty showed that almost two-thirds of wealthy Indians intend to purchase premium properties in the next two years.
This post-pandemic increase in demand has also attracted other elite business figures such as Sunil Vachani from Dixon Technologies and former RBL Bank chairman Vishwavir Ahuja to the Golf Links buyer club. Such demand from elite buyers allows Delhi, especially Golf Links, to maintain luxurious real estate and socio-economic status the region is known for.
